LEARNING OBJECTIVE
Diagnosing driveability and DTC concerns has become more complex despite the increased onboard diagnostic power in the last decade. DTCs are often misunderstood, and OE diagnostic processes can be confusing and unhelpful. Scan data has grown from typically consisting of a few dozen PIDs, to literally hundreds of PIDs.

After completing this class, technicians will:

• Understand diagnostic codes and subcodes
• More effectively select PIDs for specific driveability issues
• Be more proficient diagnosing drivability concerns
• Understand and diagnose VVT monitoring and coding
• Quickly identify low power concerns using scan data
• Work as a group through diagnostic studies from real vehicles
